The objective of the Chinook Country Historical Society is "to promote a greater understanding of Canadian and Alberta history in Chinook Country for people of all ages." The society holds monthly program meetings. Founded in 1907 the Society is a volunteer, non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of Alberta history, in its many forms - it publishes a quarterly journal, Alberta History and numerous other publications.
Fort Calgary is the original location of the North West Mounted Police (NWMP) which was established in 1875. The site commemorates the history of the NWMP and the beginnings of the City of Calgary. Based in Calgary Alberta, is a non-profit organization formed in 1980 to promote and encourage family history research. The Archives' purpose is to preserve and document the history of municipal government and to make the resulting archival material, available to the public.
